Plataran Bakti Bumi: One Day for Earth, A Lifetime of Impact

In celebration of World Environment Day, Plataran Indonesia introduced a movement that speaks louder than words, Plataran Bakti Bumi. Carried out across its properties in the Indonesian archipelago, the initiative marks a meaningful return to the roots, both literally and symbolically, through a gesture that is simple, impactful, and deeply local: planting trees.

Growing Fruitful Futures in Plataran Destinations

At its core, Plataran Bakti Bumi is not a campaign of grand ceremony, but of grounded intention. It invites guests, local villagers, and community leaders to join hands in planting productive trees in the landscapes surrounding Plataran's destinations. These are not just trees for shade or scenery, but carefully selected fruit-bearing varieties chosen for their long-term benefit to the people who live nearby.

The initiative spans across Plataran's hotels, resorts, and private villas throughout Indonesia, including destinations such as Borobudur, Bromo, Ubud, Canggu, Menjangan, Labuan Bajo, and Puncak. From avocado, mango, and durian in Central Java to citrus and jackfruit in Bali and beyond, the types of trees planted vary by region, reflecting local ecosystems and community needs. Trees are planted in yards, gardens, and village lands, often on property owned by local residents, ensuring that the fruits of this effort, both literal and symbolic, remain within the community.

When Tourism and Community Grow Together

More than an act of environmental restoration, Plataran Bakti Bumi is an invitation to collaborate. The planting process itself is shared, uniting guests, elders, and villagers in a rhythm of mutual care. In doing so, Plataran bridges tourism and local life, forging a model where sustainability grows through participation, not just policy. This is not a one-time event, but a living initiative. Carried out monthly, the program forms part of Plataran's broader commitment to its core pillars: Nature, Culture, and Community.

At a time when sustainability is often commodified, Plataran Bakti Bumi is refreshingly grounded. No performance, no stage, just hands in the soil and hearts in the right place. A simple act that resonates with timeless significance: to restore, to reconnect, and to invest in the kind of future we want to grow.
