Passes in Komodo National Park that You Need to Know!

No need to hustle when visiting the famous Komodo National Park
Komodo National Park ticketing has been the topic of people's discussions recently. We would like to take a closer look at the difference yet all of them are valid and stated in regulations regarding the ticketing on Komodo National Park. For some people, it might be confusing because the different levels of government apply different ticketing and rates, but that is the practice that has been done for a long time in not only Komodo National Park in Indonesia that needs attention for travellers so we know what we are paying for.

National Parks in Indonesia are managed by the central government of Indonesia, in this case, Ministry of Environment and Forestry by a unit of the Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation, it is Komodo National Park Office. Komodo National Park Office applied ticketing (non-tax state revenue, usually called PNBP) by these regulations: Government Regulation Number 12 of 2014 concerning Types and Tariffs for Non-Tax State Revenues that apply to the Ministry of Forestry; and Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation's Decree Number 133 of 2014 concerning Determination of Districts in National Parks, Grand Forest Parks, Nature Tourism Parks and Hunting Parks in the Context of Imposing Non-Tax State Revenues. From these regulations, Komodo National Park is a national park in District 3, in which we can conclude that the most popular types and tariffs of PNPB for tourist who are visiting the Komodo National Park are (in Indonesian Rupiah-IDR):

Besides the types and tariffs above, there are other types and tariffs, such as Student Admission, Research Activities, and Vehicle Admissions that are applied in Komodo National Park. However, since Komodo National Park is located in the regency of Manggarai Barat and the province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (East Nusa Tenggara), there are some types and tariffs that is also applied by the Manggarai Barat Local Government, called Visitor Retribution (for Local Government Revenue) that every visitor need to pay on top of the PNBP from central government.

Some of you, Legends, might have heard about the increasing tariff of Komodo National Park ticket to 3.75 million rupiah and you might be wondering about the type of the revenue. This plan is actually the plan of an all-in-one tourism package (or so-called membership), from one of the tourism service provider that has partnership with the Komodo National Park Office, that is actually a provincial state-owned company. Our sources stated that this plan of tour package will be sold to visitors who want to visit Komodo Island, so it is not for the whole area of Komodo National Park and it depends on your choice. While encountering the Komodo Dragons always can be done by visiting the newly refurbished facilities at Loh Buaya in Rinca Island by only getting general admission passes stated above.

So then, what are you waiting for to visit Komodo National Park, Legends? We are looking forward to seeing you in Komodo National Park, especially by staying in Plataran Komodo and sailing with Plataran Cruises.
